Sweet & Salty Rice Krispie Treats
Sometimes you want a snack but can’t decide if you are in the mood for sweet or salty. That’s where these Rice Krispie treats come in! I added chocolate chips, crushed potato chips, and pretzel pieces to the classic Rice Krispie treat you know and love to satisfy that sweet and salty snack craving. They are quick and easy to make - just make sure you leave time for cooling.
Quick and Easy Prep
These treats only require 7 ingredients and come together quickly. To prep, make sure you have crushed your potato chips and pretzels into small bite size pieces.
Start by melting the butter in a large pot over medium heat. Once the butter has melted, add the marshmallows and continue to heat until they have completely melted, stirring occasionally with a rubber spatula. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Next, remove the pot from the heat and stir in the Rice Krispies. Once they are coated, fold in the chocolate chips, potato chips, and pretzels. Stir until all ingredients are evenly distributed, allowing the chocolate to slightly melt.
Transfer to a Pan and Let Cool
Grease a 9x13 inch pan. Add the Rice Krispie mixture and use a rubber spatula to spread, pressing down to ensure an even thickness. Let the treats cool completely before cutting into pieces. You can put them in the refrigerator to speed up this step.
A Sweet & Salty Snack
Once the marshmallow has cooled, cut the Rice Krispie treats and enjoy! These snacks will stay good for about 3 days in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
